What emerges in Gary Best’s new study of Grace Murray is a picture of a remarkable woman - a pioneer female class leader and preacher within the early Methodist movement. It shows how throughout her life Grace had come to terms not only with the doubts and fears that can beset Christians at times, but also with the prejudices of her day.

The authors a well-known Methodist historian. He has written a number of books, including a very well-received biography of Charles Wesley. He is also an author of detective stories, one of which, ‘The Jacobite Murders’, features Charles. Since 2009 he has been the Warden of the New Room, Bristol.
